Love & R(evolution)
Ani DiFranco came to Troy, New York this weekend. Yes, Ani f’in DiFranco. She played some of her most beloved classics to satisfy the lifelong fans in the audience (us!), and put on a tour de force with her new album, and stand out song, Revolutionary Love, inspired by the Valerie Kaur book: See No Stranger: A Memoir and Manifesto of Revolutionary Love.
Ani’s music, storytelling, feminism, and political advocacy is a real model, sound track, and inspiration for us at BWB, and this injection of live music is just what the doctor ordered. The show was epic, especially to wrap a week of midterm elections and the warmest November in recent memory.
All this talk of love and revolution reminded us of this must-listen On Being podcast episode, in which the late John Lewis talks about the art of non violence as “love-in-action.” The wisdom he shares is astounding.
We often talk about how BWB is one of our main forms of activism. The same is true for many of our clients. In the last few weeks, we have worked with clients who are:
Unpacking big questions at the intersection of their socialization and public image
Designing gender-affirming and inclusive group programs
Launching projects to support femme-identified folks divesting from diet culture
Negotiating title and compensation offers that adequately uphold their value
This is what we mean when we say that BWB works with people with a little (r)evolution in their hearts. It’s an honor to do this work together.
Is something stirring in you that's ready to be unleashed?
Earlier this year we hosted an online event - Creating From The Center: Igniting your Brand's Spirit - for feminist entrepreneurs and small businesses seeking alternative marketing strategy, creative disruption, community impact, and critical conversation.
Closing out day two, we held an epic panel conversation with Brigette Iarrusso, Tristan Katz, Avery Kalapa, and Julie Wolk discussing what it means, and what it takes, to build social impact businesses, deep community relationships and put activism into action. What unfolded in that hour is essential listening.
Take a listen and drop us a line to let us know what ideas, realizations or questions the conversation inspired!

Living the Practice: Gender Equity & Trans Inclusion Training
BWB has been working with gender equity and trans inclusion trainer Tristan Katz for the last two years. We are thrilled to offer this 10-week training designed to go deeper into learning about identity, gender & sexuality, solidarity, workplace culture building, and justice-oriented marketing.
As we build out our map and vision for the year to come, we continue to hold the question: What Impact Am I Having?
Launching our Questions to Hold deck has been a highlight of 2022. It is powerful to see this practice making its way out into the world for others to integrate into their lives and businesses. So far, we know the decks have been purchased for both personal use, and as gifts for clients, family members and friends exploring big questions in their life and work.
We are also proud to have partnered with Julie Ellis to include the Questions to Hold deck as part of the gift box to accompany her new book, Big Gorgeous Goals: How Bold Woman Achieve Great Things.
Definitely a #biggorgeousgoal of our own coming to fruition. Order your deck today, and get an early jump on your holiday shopping! It's never too early to gift yourself something fabulous.
